Odunlade Adekola, Fathia Balogun and Kolawole Ajeyemi Lead New Yoruba Epic Onibọn Oje, In Cinemas October 23

Exceptional Pictures and Pacesetter Film Arena bring war, vengeance and the fight for a kingdom to the big screen in a sweeping new Yoruba epic.

Onibọn Oje, a new Yoruba epic from Exceptional Pictures and Pacesetter Film Arena, is set to arrive in cinemas nationwide on October 23, 2026, bringing a story of war, courage, vengeance and resistance to the big screen.
The film features an ensemble cast led by Odunlade Adekola, alongside Fathia Balogun, Kolawole Ajeyemi, Joke Muyiwa, Raphael Niyi, Rasaq Olayiwola, and Bose Akinola.
Set against the backdrop of an ancient Yoruba kingdom, Onibọn Oje follows a once-peaceful community whose way of life is shattered by the arrival of a fierce warlord. As fear spreads and the kingdom faces an increasingly brutal threat, hope emerges from an unexpected place: an unlikely warrior from among the townspeople who rises to confront the enemy and seek vengeance.

Produced by Mustapha Jayeola and directed by Mustapha Jayeola and Olawale Samson Adebayo, Onibọn Oje draws on the scale and spectacle of Yoruba epic storytelling, combining traditional culture, warfare and communal struggle with a story centred on what happens when ordinary people are pushed to defend their home.
Shot at the magnificent Pacesetter Film Arena, a new film village located in Ibadan, Onibọn Oje features expansive sets and epic set-pieces designed to transport audiences into the heart of the film’s fictional Yoruba kingdom. The purpose-built environment provides a striking backdrop for the film’s world of palaces, warriors, conflict and community, giving the production a scale designed for the big-screen experience.
With its ancient kingdom setting and themes of power, resistance and retribution, the film continues the resurgence of indigenous-language stories created for the theatrical experience and introduces audiences to a world in which peace can disappear in an instant — and survival may depend on the person no one expected to become a warrior.
Onibọn Oje is produced by Exceptional Pictures and Pacesetter Film Arena and distributed theatrically by Tribe Nation Theatrical Distribution. Onibọn Oje hit theatres across Nigeria October 23, 2026.
