Following its successful theatrical release in the United States on September 5 and subsequent rollout across Latin America throughout October, the highly anticipated 2D-animated feature film, LIGHT OF THE WORLD, is set to make its West African debut on Friday, November 14, 2025, in cinemas across Nigeria and Ghana.

Produced by The Salvation Poem Project with a production budget of $20 million, LIGHT OF THE WORLD combines cutting-edge 2D animation with masterful storytelling and compelling artistry. The film is directed by John J. Schafer (Superbook) and Tom Bancroft (Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Mulan), with Animation Director Tony Bancroft (Mulan, Mary Poppins Returns, Space Jam: A New Legacy). Together, this creative team delivers a visually stunning and emotionally powerful reimagining of one of the most timeless stories ever told.

Synopsis: It’s 30 AD, and the people of Israel are eagerly awaiting the coming of the Messiah. While Jesus is not what many expected, there is something extraordinary about Him. Soon, John, James, Andrew, Peter, and others begin to follow Him on an unforgettable journey. Told through the eyes of His beloved friend, the Apostle John, LIGHT OF THE WORLD captures the life, ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ in breathtaking detail. This beautifully animated retelling shows how Jesus of Nazareth changed the world forever—and continues to change lives today.

“We have long dreamed of telling the story of Jesus in a groundbreaking manner, and we believe this film does that,” said Matt McPherson, Executive Producer of LIGHT OF THE WORLD and Founder of The Salvation Poem Project.

LIGHT OF THE WORLD invites audiences into an inspiring and heart-stirring retelling of Jesus’ story—crafted to move hearts and impact lives around the globe. The film will be distributed in West Africa by Tribe Nation Theatrical Distribution Limited, the company that brought THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER (Season 5 of the globally acclaimed series The Chosen) to West African cinemas earlier this year.

“We’ve seen a lot of impressive faith-based projects in 2025, and LIGHT OF THE WORLD is no exception,” said Anita Edwards, Chief Executive Officer of Tribe Nation Theatrical Distribution Limited. “Technically and artistically, this film stands shoulder-to-shoulder with any global animated production, and we’re confident it will succeed at the West African box office.”

LIGHT OF THE WORLD opens Friday, November 14, 2025, in cinemas across Nigeria and Ghana. Watch the official trailer here:
